Does The Family Room have open play time?
|
YES! The Family Room has open play time all the time.
Our hours of operation are Sunday Noon- 6p.m., Monday - Thursday 9 -6 and Friday/Saturday 9-8.
Our classes and birthday parties are held in a back room.

Do we need to make reservations for open play?
|
No. We do not take reservations at The Family Room.
Stop by and play anytime.

Do you have to be a member of The Family Room to play?
|
NO! We are open for drop-in play.
It is $10 for the first child and $5 for each sibling. This is an all day pass. You can come and go. We also have a late day pass -- $5 per child after 3 Sunday - Thursday and after 5 on Friday & Saturday.

What is the benefit of being a member of The Family Room?
|
Members pay a monthly rate and are allowed unlimited entry throughout the month to The Family Room. In addition, members receive discounts on our special events and our non-Kindermusik classes.

How much does membership to The Family Room cost?
|
Our memberships start at $70 for one child per month.
There is a 3-month minimum commitment for our memberships,
but we do have monthly passes starting at $100 for one child.

Can we just come for a class?
|
YES! Classes are separate.
You can come just for a class or you can come for class and play. If you are staying to play either before or after a class, the daily fees apply.

How long are the classes and
can I do them as a drop-in?
|
Kindermusik classes are 45 minutes and are held in sessions.
We will prorate the session if you are joining late. Our language and other music classes are on-going. They are generally 30 minutes long.
You can do them as a drop-in or buy a class punch card.

What do you have to play with at The Family Room?
|
We have a climbing structure, dress-up area, kitchen area,
train table, lots of toys and space for the kids to run around.
And for the adults, we have comfortable chairs, magazines, books and free Wi-Fi.

What age range is appropriate for The Family Room?
|
The Family Room is best suited for ages newborn to 7 years old.
Older children can and do have fun here,
but it is not something they would want to do on a daily basis.

Do you sell food and drinks at The Family Room?
|
Not yet. We are in the process of getting our license.
Until then, you are welcome to bring in snacks and drinks.
The Family Room is located on historic Barrack's Row with lots
of cafes and restaurants up and down the street.
We are half a block down from a Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts, near
restaurants for every taste - Pizza, Italian, Indian, Mediterranean, Thai, Seafood, and Mexican

When there is birthday party is The Family Room closed?
|
Not usually. Birthday parties enjoy the back party room
privately, but the play area is open for use.
If you are interested in renting the entire space for your
party, talk with one of our sales associates and they can give
you the details. If The Family Room is closing for a party or special event,
it will be listed on our website, www.thefamilyroomdc.com.

Is there a special discount for schools?
|
The Family Room is a strong supporter of quality education for our children.
We work with schools in providing a fun and safe place for fieldtrips.
We do offer fieldtrip rates. In addition,
The Family Room can assist with art projects, music or language classes during your fieldtrip.

Does The Family Room have special events?
|
YES! Story times, Family Movie Nights, special appearances by Mr. Derby,
and Mr. Tony,
and craft days are just a few of our special events.

Where exactly is The Family Room located?
|
The Family Room is located at 411 8th St. SE, 2nd Floor - Yes there is an elevator.
We are one block from the Eastern Market metro stop on the Orange & Blue line.

Is there parking at The Family Room?
|
There is meter and Zone 6 parking around
The Family Room. Zone 6 allows for 2 hours parking and the
meters vary from 1 hour to 4 hours in the area.

What products does The Family Room carry?
|
The Family Room is a licensed Ella Roo vendor.
We carry their wraps, slings and Mei Tai carriers.
We also sell Kindermusik DVDs and instruments.
In addition, The Family Room features items from local artisans including art,
cards, jewelry and handmade items.
